Summary
The Supervisor, Maintenance Planning provides daily operational supervision to a team of Maintenance Planners and Warehouse staff who support maintenance planning, scheduling, and inventory management for water and wastewater services. The supervisor collaborates closely with operations, trades, engineering, and asset and maintenance management to ensure work is planned, scheduled, and packaged for efficient execution in alignment with asset management, regulatory, environmental, and safety standards.
This position plays a key role in maturing planning, scheduling, and inventory management practices by strengthening processes, improving data quality, supporting EAM system enhancements, and identifying and monitoring key performance indicators.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Supervise, coach, and support a team of Maintenance Planners and Warehouse staff, providing daily guidance, mentorship, and performance feedback.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with operations, trades, engineering, asset management, and other internal partners to optimize maintenance activities and alignment with standards.
- Communicate clearly and professionally to support coordinated work execution and alignment across team.
- Ensure regulatory, environmental, and safety requirements are included in work packages and job plans in consultation and coordination with relevant parties.
- Oversee the development of weekly, monthly, and long-range schedules that support safe, efficient, and coordinated work execution.
- Verify work package readiness, ensuring scope clarity, proper sequencing, labour availability, material readiness, and required safety controls.
- Support coordination and planning for complex or critical shutdowns to ensure safe and efficient execution.
- Provide quality assurance for maintenance plans ensuring consistent alignment with reliability frameworks and asset management, regulatory, environmental, and safety standards.
- Collaborates with operations and reliability functions in reviewing and endorsing maintenance plans, task lists, and sequencing.
- Ensure adherence to enterprise asset management (EAM) data standards, processes, and documentation requirements to enable consistent reporting and alignment across teams.
- Monitor key performance indicators for maintenance planning, scheduling, and inventory, and collaborates with the reliability function to support their reporting, analysis, and continuous improvement activities.
- Identify opportunities to improve planning efficiency, data quality, reporting, and the effective use of the EAM system.
- Participate in EAM program activities and support the adoption of process and system enhancements.
- Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of the inventory management plan.
- Support CAMM strategic goals, reliability and maintenance strategies, and organizational performance targets.
- Follows all policies, procedures, and standards of the CRD.
- Performs other related duties as required.

Key Skills & Abilities
- Strong leadership and team management skills with proven ability to build engagement, accountability, and high performance.
- Expertise in maintenance planning, scheduling, estimating, kitting, shutdown planning, and work readiness.
- Understanding of inventory management and its integration with capital planning, maintenance planning, and emergency response.
- Proficiency with EAM systems, such as SAP PM.
Knowledge of water and/or wastewater systems. - Understanding of preventative and predictive maintenance and how planning interfaces with reliability methodologies.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with operations, trades, engineering, contractors, and management.
- Skilled in chairing meetings, resolving coordination challenges, and providing clear direction.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to assess planning quality and drive continuous improvement.
- Ability to work under pressure, maintaining composure and managing competing priorities.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain respectful working relationships with internal and external contacts under circumstances that are considerably complex and time sensitive.
Qualifications
- Diploma in a related discipline
- A minimum of 10 years' directly related experience
- A minimum of 2 years' supervisory experience
Certifications
- Maintenance Management Professional certification (PEMAC) or equivalent.
- Valid BC Driver's Licence
