Summary

This position is responsible for providing a wide range of services which enhance tenant engagement and enrich relationships between tenants and the corporation. The position supports successful tenancies and develops and nurtures partnerships with community organizations to enhance the quality of life of tenants. This position regularly communicates, collaborates and coordinates with other staff to ensure a strong team culture that supports CHRC goals and objectives.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provides a range of services that enhances tenant relations, supports successful tenancies and enhances the quality of life for the CRHC residents.
  • Works with tenants to influence and support the coordination of referral to the appropriate community agencies.
  • Develops and coordinates response with internal staff with regards to tenants at risk of eviction or in challenging tenancies to deal with circumstances stemming from behavioural problems.
  • Coordinates with outside agencies when dealing with tenants in need of support services or those whose tenancy may be jeopardized.
  • Oversees integrating tenants living with disabilities into seniors and family complexes.
  • Advises tenants of the Corporation’s tenancy agreement and policies and provides early problem solving and dispute resolution as issues arise.
  • Identifies and develops opportunities and strategies to leverage partnerships to enhance tenant services.
  • Facilitates dispute resolution between conflicting tenants and/or neighbours.
  • Coordinates CRHC partnerships with third party societies and Parry Place.
  • Coordinates crime-free, multi-housing program liaising with Victoria and Saanich Police Department representatives and ensures recertification and processes are monitored and implemented
  • Coordinates training workshops in areas of tenant regulations, neighbourhood safety and building security.
  • Supports the development and revision of policies and procedures that will enhance tenant services and property management operations.
  • Promotes the maintenance of structured activities in CRHC complexes by providing support and funding assistance.
  • Develop strategies in the planning, decision making and evaluation processes related to tenant accommodation and/or relocation in community revitalization or renewal projects
  • Follows all policies, procedures and standards of the CRD.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Key Skills & Abilities

  • Excellent communication (verbal and written), interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Expert knowledge of social work theory and practice, tenant engagement principles.
  • Considerable experience in counselling and influencing behaviour.
  • Thorough knowledge of the housing spectrum and the importance of housing as a social determinant of health.
  • Working knowledge and experience working with the Residential Tenancy Act and Regulations, policies and procedures related to social housing management.
  • Excellent negotiation and conflict resolution skills and the ability to diffuse difficult situations.
  • Strong ability to exercise tact, diplomacy and professional conduct in order to influence and collaborate and build consensus with stakeholders at various levels.
  • Strong MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook and SharePoint skills.
  • Strong proficiency and experience using project scheduling programs and databases.
  • Strong ability to prepare, process and check a variety of reports, documents and correspondence related to the position.
  • Strong ability to establish and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships.
  • Strong organizational skills, including the ability to work under pressure, prioritize work and to set and meet deadlines.

Qualifications

  • Degree in a related discipline
  • A minimum of 3 years' directly related experience
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience

Certifications

  • Acceptable criminal record check. The applicant/incumbent is required to undergo a criminal record check to work in this position and to report to their supervisor if any criminal charges are laid against them that may be related to their employment.
  • Valid BC Driver's Licence
