Summary

The focus of this position is to function as a technical specialist in Wastewater and Water Treatment Systems and to provide project management oversight.  This position is responsible for applying wastewater and water treatment and engineering concepts to solve complex engineering problems.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Data Analysis and Reporting:

  • Collect, analyze, and interpret data related to wastewater and water treatment processes.
  • Generate technical reports and recommendations based on data analysis.

Process Optimization:

  • Continuously evaluate and improve the efficiency of existing treatment processes.
  • Conduct process modeling, data analysis, and pilot studies to identify areas for improvement.

Project Management:

  • Collaborate with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies to define project objectives, scope, and requirements.
  • Lead the design and engineering phase of treatment projects, including process selection, equipment specifications, and system layout.
  • Oversee project implementation, coordinating with contractors, subcontractors, and on-site personnel.
  • Monitor progress, quality, and safety, and make adjustments to meet project goals.

Change Management:

  • Maintain a well-structured change management process that ensures the safe assessment, implementation, and proper documentation of alterations in wastewater and water treatment procedures.
  • Diligently evaluate the effects of proposed changes on system performance.

Environmental Sustainability:

  • Implement strategies to minimize the environmental impact of wastewater and water treatment processes, such as energy efficiency and resource recovery.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Promote a workplace safety culture and ensure compliance with safety regulations and protocols.

Professional expertise 

  • Provide professional and technical advice and expertise to internal stakeholders.

Research and Innovation:

  • Review developments in wastewater and water treatment technology and research to implement innovative solutions.

Key Skills & Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of wastewater and water treatment principles, processes, and equipment.
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written), interpersonal and customer service skills are required.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations and permitting processes.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills. Experience with working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, including providing technical expertise and direction.
  • Demonstrated project management experience, including directing and guiding the work of consultants.

Qualifications

  • Degree in a related discipline
  • A minimum of 9 years' directly related experience
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience

Certifications

  • Professional engineering (P.Eng.) designation with Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia (EGBC) or eligibility for designation.
  • Valid BC Driver's Licence
