Summary

The Capital Regional District (CRD) Cross Connection Control Program (CCC) administrates, under Bylaw 3516, a program to protect the public drinking water from contamination through actual and potential cross connections. This position will support residential outreach initiatives, conduct background research, compile data and provide summary reports.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Supports the delivery of outreach campaigns and initiatives, pertaining to the Capital Regional District Cross Connection Control Program, CRD CCC.
  • Works directly with the CRD CCC team assisting with the a variety of tasks.
  • Gathers information, conducts background research, and provides support with outreach and registration to advance the “going paperless” process.
  • Assists with weekly mailouts.
  • Registers backflow device owners and testers in the CRD CCC data base to support the use of the digital forms  and maintain the online accounts.
  • Represents the CRD in a professional and informed manner.
  • Follows all policies, procedures and standards of the CRD.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Additional Information

  • The anticipated length of this term assignment is approximately 18-20 weeks.

Key Skills & Abilities

  • Proven ability to work in a team environment essential.
  • Excellent interpersonal/ communication skills (oral and written) in communicating effectively with staff and the general public.
  • Excellent computer skills (MS products), experience with working with databases is an asset.
  • Good documenting skills to track the work being completed.
  • Good time management skills.
  • Ability to take initiative, work independently, identify and solve problems, organize and prioritize work and produce results.
  • Ability to gather research material and support data analysis.
  • Working knowledge and experience with Microsoft computer software applications including word processing and spreadsheet programs.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Basic knowledge of cross connection control program.

Qualifications

  • High School Graduation
  • A minimum of six months' directly related experience
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience
