Summary
- Installs and configures personal computers in a Local Area Network environment.
- Ensures that installation of desktop software conforms to IT corporate standards.
- Resolves computer failures for both employee desktops and publicly accessible CRD services, assessing the situation and taking quick action to minimize the impact of the problem.
- Performs various personal computer repairs as required.
- Performs desktop operating system upgrades as well as installation of OS for new systems.
- Diagnoses and resolves desktop application software errors, while minimizing down time for user community.
- Installs and configures shared network print devices.
- Trouble-shoots and resolves device conflicts within client operating systems.
- Installs and configures third party add in cards (Video cards, NICs, etc).
- Assists with the maintenance and accuracy of asset inventory information for hardware and software.
- Deploys PCs using remote installation packages and remote desktop administration.
- Liaises with vendors regarding support
- Conducts software testing prior to deployment
- Follows all policies, procedures and standards of the CRD
- Performs other related duties as required.

- Strong ability to explain technical information and processes to help end users complete tasks using the tools and software available.
- Considerable experience working in a Microsoft network environment including a solid working knowledge of Windows XP, Windows 7 and Windows 10, as well as a working knowledge of current Windows Server Operating Systems.
- Considerable experience editing and supporting Windows registry settings.
- Considerable experience working with deployment management software, system images and remote control of desktops.
- Basic understanding of TCP/IP and other common communication protocols.
- Basic understanding of the mechanical workings printers, plotters and MFPs.
- Basic understanding of Ethernet network cabling.
This position provides personal computer support to CRD clients through the installation and configuration of personal computers in a Local Area Network environment. The position installs and supports various desktop applications ensuring optimal operation of the Microsoft Windows operating systems as well as application integration between various Microsoft Office components and other third party software products.
