Summary
This position is responsible for planning and teaching skate lessons, supervising public skates and teaching various on-ice programs.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Establish a friendly, safe atmosphere for all visitors to the Leisure Complex and maintain good customer service
- Create and implement lessons plans and program schedules
- Instruct children and adults of all ages and abilities, to skate and play hockey
- Work cohesively with other instructors in group settings
- Maintain safe work practices
- Follows all policies, procedures and standards of the CRD.
- Performs other related duties as required.

- Strong, confident skating and/or hockey skills
- Enjoy working with children and/or adults
- Ability to establish rapport with children
- Ability to adapt to skill level of group
Qualifications
- Recreational Skate Instructor Course
- Some directly related experience
Certifications
- Acceptable criminal record check. The applicant/incumbent is required to undergo a criminal record check to work in this position and to report to their supervisor if any criminal charges are laid against them that may be related to their employment.
- Emergency First Aid and CPR-C
