Summary

This position will be directly responsible for facilitating and integrating a child with physical or mental disabilities into the summer camp programs.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Facilitate and support participation and adapting activities in a safe, healthy environment.
  • Encourage independence, and assist in developing self-confidence.
  • Liaise with other camp staff and parents.
  • Ability to be imaginative and flexible to ensure a fun environment is created for participants.
  • Work independently and as part of a team.
  • Maintain on-going communication with Recreation Coordinator and Recreation Assistant.
  • Act as a liaison between general public and SEAPARC when necessary.
  • Follow all policies, procedures and standards of the CRD.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Key Skills & Abilities

  • Excellent customer service, communication (both verbal and written), interpersonal and public relations skills and experience are required.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Customer service and public relations skills required.
  • Experience integrating and supporting children with physical and/or mental disabilities into summer camp programs.
  • Experience working with children in a similar/related capacity.
  • Leadership abilities including role model behaviours as well as demonstrating sound judgment and creating a positive, enthusiastic and fun environment.

  • Some directly related experience

Certifications

  • Acceptable criminal record check. The applicant/incumbent is required to undergo a criminal record check to work in this position and to report to their supervisor if any criminal charges are laid against them that may be related to their employment.
  • Standard First Aid and CPR-C
