Summary

This position is responsible for assisting in the set up and delivery of various programs including drop-in activities located in the gym at the Salt Spring Multi Space (SIMS). 

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assists in the set up and delivery of safe, and enjoyable drop-in programs and activities for all members of the community
  • Monitors the use and distribution of equipment ensuring all safety procedures and policies are followed
  • Assists in delivering and overseeing special event activities in a public setting
  • Acts as a liaison between the CRD and the general public providing information when necessary.
  • Work cooperatively with other staff members
  • Follows all policies, procedures and standards of the CRD
  • Performs other duties as required

Key Skills & Abilities

  • Excellent customer service, communication, interpersonal and public relation skills required.
  • Ability to monitor and lead a variety of recreation activities.
  • Ability to offer information about Salt Spring Island Parks, Arts and Recreation programs and services to the general public (training provided).
  • Physically able to assist with the setup of heavy equipment.

Certifications

  • Acceptable criminal record check. The applicant/incumbent is required to undergo a criminal record check to work in this position and to report to their supervisor if any criminal charges are laid against them that may be related to their employment.
  • One or more directly related certifications
  • Emergency First Aid and CPR-C
