Summary

This position lifeguards and assists in the delivery of public aquatic programs. The incumbent must be conversant with emergency procedures and able to respond accordingly. Employees are expected to be knowledgeable of the aquatic facilities rules and regulations and are able to implement the same while maintaining a co-operative and positive relationship with the public.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Life guarding.
  • Ensuring effective program instruction in a fun and safe manner for participants.
  • Assists with the delivery of special events.
  • Ensuring cleanliness of pool deck and surrounding areas.
  • May be required to assist with administration duties as required.
  • Follows all policies, procedures and standards of the CRD.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Additional Information

  • Ability to to work a variety of shifts, including evenings and weekends, to meet operational needs.

Key Skills & Abilities

  • Excellent communication (verbal and written), interpersonal and customer service skills are required.
  • Familiar with emergency procedures and able to respond accordingly.
  • Knowledgeable of the aquatic facilities rules and regulations.
  • Ability to work independently with general supervision in a relatively structured environment.

Qualifications

  • Some directly related experience

Certifications

  • Acceptable criminal record check. The applicant/incumbent is required to undergo a criminal record check to work in this position and to report to their supervisor if any criminal charges are laid against them that may be related to their employment.
  • National Lifeguard Certificate
  • Water Safety Instructor
  • Standard First Aid and CPR-C
