Rate of Pay: $19.53 - $19.53 per hour plus 14% in lieu of benefits

Hours of Work: Up to 80 hours bi-weekly for 6 weeks between July 6 - July 31, 2026 and August 10 - August 28, 2026.  Monday to Friday 8:15 am - 4:15 pm

 

*Pre-summer training will be required, including a department specific in-service on Saturday, May 30th and an all-camp staff in-service on Saturday, June 6th.  Training is mandatory.

Summary

This position assists in the implementation and delivery of active and engaging tennis day camp programming for school age children. They will have a positive impact on the children and families involved, work collaboratively with the Tennis Camp Leader and Day Camp Inclusion Assistant(s), and be an important member of the Panorama Recreation team. The incumbent will assist in ensuring children are engaged and provided with developmentally and age-appropriate programming, while ensuring participant safety and wellbeing throughout.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assists in the delivery of safe, successful, healthy and enjoyable tennis day camp programming for school age children.
  • Assists in the delivery of a series of lessons with a tactical or technical focus, along with other engaging, developmentally and age-appropriate day camp activities such as cooperative group games, arts and crafts, and dramatic play.
  • Assists with daily preparation of program space and supplies. Ensures equipment and program spaces are safe and sanitary before and after each program session.
  • Provides constructive guidance and feedback to participants, along with guidance on appropriate behaviour during play and activities.
  • Ensures clear and respectful communication with players, parents/guardians, supervisor(s) and coworkers.
  • Works collaboratively with Tennis Camp Leader and Day Camp Inclusion Assistant(s).
  • Provides excellent service to both internal and external customers.
  • Maintains a clean and safe environment.
  • Keeps accurate attendance records.
  • Follows of policies, procedures and standards of the CRD.
  • Other related duties as required.

Key Skills & Abilities

  • Minimum level of tennis play: 3.0
  • Experience assisting with recreational programs for school age children
  • Some knowledge of how to increase/decrease the difficulty of drills to customize lessons

  • Some directly related experience

Certifications

  • Acceptable criminal record check. The applicant/incumbent is required to undergo a criminal record check to work in this position and to report to their supervisor if any criminal charges are laid against them that may be related to their employment.
