Rate of Pay: $21.19 - $21.19 per hour plus 15% in lieu of benefits

Hours of Work: Up to 5-10 hours bi-weekly, Fridays 3-5:30pm and/or Saturdays 9:30am-12pm, September-March (with some exclusion weeks).

Summary

This position is responsible for planning and teaching skate lessons, supervising public skates and teaching various on-ice programs.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Establish a friendly, safe atmosphere for all visitors to the Leisure Complex and maintain good customer service
  • Create and implement lessons plans and program schedules
  • Instruct children and adults of all ages and abilities, to skate and play hockey
  • Work cohesively with other instructors in group settings
  • Maintain safe work practices
  • Follows all policies, procedures and standards of the CRD.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Additional Information

  • Ability to work a variety of shifts, including weekdays, weekends, holidays, days and evenings, and on an as-and-when-required basis.

Key Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to teach hockey and/or skating to children and adults
  • Strong, confident skating and/or hockey skills
  • Enjoy working with children and/or adults
  • Ability to establish rapport with children
  • Ability to adapt to skill level of group

Qualifications

  • Recreational Skate Instructor Course
  • Some directly related experience

Certifications

  • Acceptable criminal record check. The applicant/incumbent is required to undergo a criminal record check to work in this position and to report to their supervisor if any criminal charges are laid against them that may be related to their employment.
  • Emergency First Aid and CPR-C
