Hours of Work: A minimum of 13.5 hours/week, shift hours 4.30 PM to 9:00 PM, Tues, Wed, and Thurs for July and August

Summary

This position is responsible for the day to day operation of the Play in the Park Program that runs on weeknights over the summer. The Program Leader will be responsible for the planning and implementation of daily engaging and interactive activities for the families who attend this free community event. This will include supply preparation, event set up, and providing direction to assistant program leaders and volunteers to operate the program.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Plans and implements engaging activities for the families who attend the Play in the Park Program.
  • Provides guidance and direction required to assistant leaders and volunteers to set up, deliver program content, and take down events daily. 
  • Sets up equipment, not limited to large inflatable, tent, games, and takes down equipment after the event. 

  • Works as a team to complete set up of all equipment needed to run the event and takes equipment down when it is over. 

  • Uses a dolly to move equipment from trailer to the event venue and in the reverse at the conclusion of the event.

  • Unloads equipment, by hand or using a dolly, to set up program and takes downs equipment to load after the event. 

  • Ensures the mobile unit and event equipment is well maintained and stored in a tidy manner. 
  • Liaises with community partners and acts as a Panorama Recreation point of contact.
  • Act as a liaison between the general public and Panorama Recreation when necessary. 
  • Responsible for the delivery of safe and health programs, including knowledge of emergency procedures and assistance in responding to emergency situations, including first aid. 
  • Follows all policies, procedures and standards of the CRD.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Key Skills & Abilities

  • Experience developing and leading recreational programs or special events.
  • Experience working with children, youth and adults in a public setting.
  • Supervisory experience is an asset. 
  • Excellent customer service, communication (both verbal and written), organizational, interpersonal and public relations skills and experience are required. 

Qualifications

  • High School Graduation
  • Some directly related experience

Certifications

  • Acceptable criminal record check. The applicant/incumbent is required to undergo a criminal record check to work in this position and to report to their supervisor if any criminal charges are laid against them that may be related to their employment.
  • Emergency First Aid
  • Valid BC Driver's Licence
