Summary
This position performs basic maintenance and routine cleaning and custodial duties of a public recreation facility.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Performs routine building cleaning functions including cleaning public areas and replenishing supplies.
- Assists with ensuring building, vehicles and equipment are secure.
- Performs basic grounds maintenance tasks as directed.
- Assist with set up for special events, as directed.
- Follows all policies, procedures, and standards of the CRD.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Additional Information
- Ability to to work a variety of shifts, including evenings and weekends, to meet operational needs.
Key Skills & Abilities
- Excellent communication (verbal and written), interpersonal and customer service skills are required.
- Basic knowledge of building maintenance and building cleaning.
- Knowledge of materials, tools and equipment used in janitorial and building maintenance work, including the safe handling of chemicals, corrosive materials and pressurized gases.
- Knowledge and understanding of WorkSafeBC practices/protocols, Workers' Compensation Act and OHandS Regulations and other relevant safety statutes.
- Sufficient physical strength and stamina to perform the required duties.
- Ability to work a variety of shift schedules as required.
Qualifications
- High School Graduation
- A minimum of six months' directly related experience
Certifications
- WHMIS Certification
- Valid BC Driver's Licence
- Acceptable criminal record check. The applicant/incumbent is required to undergo a criminal record check to work in this position and to report to their supervisor if any criminal charges are laid against them that may be related to their employment.
