Rate of Pay: $23.78 per hour plus 14% in lieu of benefits
Hours of Work: Up to 80 hours bi-weekly - Must be available to attend camp training on the days of May 31st, June 7th and an additional weekday evening leading up to summer.

Summary
This position is responsible for the implementation and delivery of active and engaging day camp programming for school age children. Planning, preparing and leading a variety of indoor and outdoor activities, the successful applicant will have a positive impact on the children and families involved, and be an important member of the community recreation team. The incumbent will ensure children are engaged and provided with developmentally and age appropriate programming, while ensuring participant safety and wellbeing throughout.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Delivers safe, successful, healthy and enjoyable programming for school age children.
- Completes program activity planning, within an assigned budget - planning activities that are meaningful, engaging, and developmentally and age-appropriate; including arts and crafts, sports, cooperative games and dramatic play.
- Daily classroom preparation, along with preparation and execution of planned activities.
- Provides learning and guidance to participants on appropriate behaviour during play and activities. Escorts participants to off-site activities on foot or as driver of a 24-passenger bus.
- Works collaboratively with a Summer Day Camp Assistant.
- Delivers care and support with behaviour management, inclusion, first aid and other areas relating to caring for children. Ensures equipment and program spaces are safe and sanitary before and after each program session.
- Acts as a liaison between the general public and CRD; providing good customer service and clear communication with parents and caregivers.
- Follows all policies, procedures and standards of the CRD.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Additional Information
- Term position anticipated June 30 - August 31
- Some paid planning, training and development time will be scheduled in May and June.
- Positions will be based at Greenglade Community Centre and/or Centennial Park
Key Skills & Abilities
- Experience leading and activity planning recreational programs for school age children.
- Leadership abilities, including role model behaviours, along with the ability to demonstrate sound judgement while creating a positive, enthusiastic, safe and fun program environment
- Excellent verbal and written communications, interpersonal and customer service skills.

Certifications
- Acceptable criminal record check. The applicant/incumbent is required to undergo a criminal record check to work in this position and to report to their supervisor if any criminal charges are laid against them that may be related to their employment.
- Valid BC Driver's Licence Class 4 (Unrestricted)
- Emergency First Aid and CPR-C
