Summary
The Camp Bus Driver plays an essential role in supporting active and engaging camp experiences for school age children. This position is primarily responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable transportation of campers and staff to and from out trip destinations. During excursions, the Camp Bus Driver may also support camp staff as an additional leader, helping maintain a positive, fun, and well supervised environment.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Operates a 24 passenger bus safely to transport campers and staff to and from out trip destinations.
- Conducts pre trip and post trip vehicle safety inspections and report any maintenance needs promptly.
- Adjusts driving based on weather, road conditions, and group needs to ensure safe travel at all times.
- Acts as an additional leader during out trips by assisting staff with group supervision, transitions, and safety oversight.
- Works collaboratively with a Summer Day Camp Leader and Summer Day Camp Assistant.
- Communicates effectively with camp leaders regarding schedules, timing, safety issues, and route changes.
- Delivers care and support with behaviour management, inclusion, first aid and other areas relating to caring for children.
- Ensures equipment and program spaces are safe and sanitary before and after each program session.
- Acts as a liaison between the general public and CRD; providing good customer service and clear communication with parents and caregivers.
- Follows all policies, procedures and standards of the CRD.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Additional Information
- Term position anticipated July 4 - September 1, 2026.
- Some paid planning, training and development time will be scheduled June.
- Positions will be based at Greenglade Community Centre
Key Skills & Abilities
- Experience leading and activity planning recreational programs for school age children.
- Leadership abilities, including role model behaviours, along with the ability to demonstrate sound judgement while creating a positive, enthusiastic, safe and fun program environment
- Excellent verbal and written communications, interpersonal and customer service skills.

Certifications
- Acceptable criminal record check. The applicant/incumbent is required to undergo a criminal record check to work in this position and to report to their supervisor if any criminal charges are laid against them that may be related to their employment.
- Valid BC Driver's Licence Class 4 (Unrestricted)
- Emergency First Aid and CPR-C
