Summary

Panorama Recreation Centre is looking for staff to join the aquatics team and assist to provide the public with a safe and enjoyable experience as an assistant aquatic worker. 

This position requires an acceptable criminal record check.  The applicant/incumbent will be required to undergo a criminal record check in order to work in this position and to report to their supervisor if any criminal charges are laid against them that may be related to their employment in this position.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

People working in this role can expect to be responsible for performing the following duties. This list is not meant to be comprehensive and other related duties similar in scope and complexity may be performed.

  • Assists to create a fun and safe environment for patrons.
  • Responsible for the safe operation of pool amenities including the water slide, pool inflatables and climbing wall.
  • Plans, leads, and assists with special events, and programs.
  • Communicates with patrons on water safety topics, facility standards, and BC pool regulations.
  • Assists to ensure aquatic areas are clean and safe, including ensuring equipment is stored appropriately.
  • Assists Lifeguards in emergencies, first-aid, gathering rescue equipment and crowd control.
  • Follows all policies, procedures, and standards of the CRD.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 15 years of age.
  • Bronze Cross.
  • Standard First Aid.
  • Understanding of theory and practical skills related to water safety and injury prevention.
  • Excellent customer service, communication, interpersonal and public relations skills.
  • Ability to work independently and follow direction as part of a team.
  • Ability to work weekdays, evenings and weekends.
